ALPHA PHIÂ
Founded on September 18, 1872 at Syracuse University, Alpha Phi was the first sorority founded in the northeast for women. Since 1902 Alpha Phi has been celebrating their Founder's Day on October 10, since many colleges and universities at the time were not open mid-September.
There were 10 initial founders of Alpha Phi who all pledged allegiance to the sisterhood. After many meetings in homes of various chapter members, the chapter grew from simply renting rooms for meetings, to renting a house, and finally to building the very first house owned by a women's fraternity!
Alpha Phi participates in the Alpha Phi Foundation, which supports research and programs that study heart disease in women. Chapters host many events to promote awareness and raise money donated to their Foundation or the Heart to Heart Grant, among others.
Make sure to plan ahead and get your JennaBenna Alpha Phi Founder’s Day sorority shirt before October 10 so that you can join in the celebration of the fraternity's fall founding.
